Every published India CPM benchmark I checked while writing this disagreed with the others by a factor of five to ten. Numbers from 50 to 850 rupees, mostly written by people selling content rather than running accounts.

So here are the ranges I actually plan campaigns against, and more usefully, the method to work out your own number.

The three costs people confuse

When someone asks what Meta ads cost in India they usually mean one of three different things, and mixing them up is why quotes look wildly inconsistent.

Ad spend: the planning ranges

CPM, the cost per thousand impressions, runs roughly 60 to 150 rupees for most categories in India. E-commerce sits higher, around 80 to 250, because the auction is more crowded.

Cost per lead for lead generation typically lands between 80 and 400 rupees. That range is wide because an 80-rupee lead and a 380-rupee lead are usually different levels of qualification rather than different levels of skill.

One seasonal factor worth planning around: CPMs roughly triple during Diwali and the major sale windows. If you are testing a new offer, test it in a quiet week. Testing in late October tells you more about the auction than about your offer.

The honest caveat is that your own account’s CPM over the last two or three days beats every published benchmark, including mine. Treat these as a starting guess you replace with real data in week one.

The minimum budget your objective needs

This is the part almost nobody calculates, and it decides whether a campaign works before it launches.

Meta needs roughly 50 conversion events in 7 days to exit the learning phase and optimise properly. That is about 7.14 events per day. So your daily ad set budget divided by 7.14 is the most expensive result Meta can reliably buy you.

Daily budgetMax sustainable cost per resultRealistic objective
₹700~₹98Click-to-WhatsApp, Messages, cheap leads
₹1,000~₹140Same, plus low-ticket digital products
₹2,000~₹280Leads comfortably, low-AOV purchases
₹3,000~₹420Most D2C purchases, qualified consult leads
₹4,000~₹560Direct purchase and most consultation leads

Read it backwards from how people usually read it. Decide the result you need, multiply its realistic cost by 7.14, and that is your minimum daily budget.

If you need consultation calls at 450 rupees each, you need about 3,200 rupees a day per ad set. Running that same campaign at 800 a day does not get you fewer calls. It usually gets you none, because the ad set never learns who to show the ad to.

Management fees

Agency fees in India for Meta ads management vary more than the ad costs do. What matters more than the number is what sits inside it: is someone writing the ads, building the landing page and following up with leads, or only pressing buttons in Ads Manager?

My own pricing is published: funnels from ₹35,000, and the full system with ads management and AI automation at ₹90,000. Ad spend is always separate and always on your own account.

The mistake that wastes the most money

Splitting a small budget across many ad sets. Two thousand rupees a day across four ad sets is 500 each, which supports a 70-rupee result. Nothing useful costs 70 rupees. One ad set at 2,000 beats four at 500, every time.

The second most expensive mistake is turning on Advantage+ too early. Below roughly 150 to 200 dollars a day, Advantage+ underperforms manual setup by 30 to 40 percent in my accounts and tends to stay stuck in learning. At 4,000 rupees a day and under, manual placements and manual targeting win.

Where to start

Seven hundred rupees a day, one ad set, optimising for Messages or Click-to-WhatsApp, for seven days without touching anything. That is about 5,000 rupees for the week and it answers the only question that matters at the start: does anyone want this.

Spend two weeks and 10,000 rupees answering that before you spend a lakh scaling something nobody asked for.
